If you live, work or enjoy water activities in the Yarmouth Creek Watershed, James City County’s PRIDE Program can help you learn how to form a watershed protection group.

The formation of a Friends of the Yarmouth Creek Watershed will be the topic of the June 1 meeting at the James City County Library, 7770 Croaker Road. The meeting will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. ; The Yarmouth Creek Watershed encompasses neighborhoods such as Toano Woods, Colonial Heritage, Kristiansand, Norge, the Little Creek Reservoir and lands along Cranston Mill Pond, Jolly Pond and Chickahominy Roads.

A citizen group, if formed, could facilitate protection of Yarmouth Creek, including education about watershed awareness, including litter and boat wakes; promote active stewardship among residents, community associations, businesses and seasonal visitors; work with neighbors to develop a vision for individual properties; and work with the County on shared goals.

PRIDE representatives will give an overview of the Yarmouth Creek Watershed Management Plan. In addition, Friends of the Powhatan Creek Watershed will talk about starting a watershed group.  Call (757) 253-6859 for pre-registration
